Sara Martin of Rochester had a big weekend for the RIT volleyball team as the Tigers began the 2012 campaign. RIT competed in the Battlefield Classic, hosted by Gettsburg College, and came away with a 2-2 record.
In her collegiate debut against Dickinson College, Martin slammed eight kills to go along with six digs in a three-set victory. For the weekend, the freshman posted a team-high 23 kills to go along with 17 digs and three blocks.
RIT returns to action at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 in the Elmira Invitational when the team takes on Wells. At 8 p.m., RIT will host Elmira.
