LETTER: Poor representation from Rep. Buerkle

A few weeks ago I attended a town hall meeting of Representative Ann Marie Buerkle in Sodus. As always, I had a difficult time listening to her half-truths and some outright lies. She often does not answer the question people ask, but brings in other items like the health care act which she opposes.

My question related to the Domestic violence Act. I had received information that the proposed House bill (HR 4970) excluded the victims of violence if they were Native Americans, gay people and immigrants. The Senate had included changes related to all of these groups. I had asked Ms. Buerkle in a letter how she voted for the House bill or the Senate bill. She did not answer my question in her letter back. When I asked her how she voted at the meeting, she talked on the issue but did not answer the question. She said she supported all women, and it seemed she voted for the House bill, which had the exclusions above.

I am sure many of you are not aware of how little she has supported the people she represents. She has voted against all environmental bills, against job bills, and issues related to workers and unions.

I hope that all of you will look at how poorly she has represented us and vote for Dan Maffei in November. Dan may not have voted the way I wanted all the time, but he did vote for the important issues of the people in his district, unlike Ms. Buerkle.

We must boot Buerkle and elect Dan Maffei!
