Rochester Women’s Community Chorus will present “Pure Imagination” at 7:30 p.m. June 3 at The Harley School, 1981 Clover St., Rochester.
The spring concert will feature “What’s Keeping You From Singing?,” an original piece commissioned by and created specifically for RWCC by Elizabeth Alexander in honor of the group’s founding director. Alexander created the piece from keyword, short essay and poem submissions from past and present choir members describing what the chorus meant to them.
The audience will enjoy mermaids, fairies, dancing lobsters and seals. Selections include “Over the Rainbow,” It’s Only a Paper Moon,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Defying Gravity” and “Little Shop of Horrors” along with “Pure Imagination from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”
RWCC features residents from the Greater Rochester area, including Pittsford, Webster, Fairport, Honeoye Falls, Holley, Scottsville, Irondequoit, Bloomfield and Henrietta. Its members are mothers and daughters, nieces and aunts and couples who have met through the chorus.
Tickets cost $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $6 for children in advance. Tickets at the door cost $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and $6 for children.
The venue is handicapped accessible. The performance will be American sign language interpreted.
