Encaustic artist Kathryn Bevier will give an art demonstration titled “Understanding Encaustic” at the meeting of the Irondequoit Art Club at 7:30 p.m. March 28 at Chapel Oaks, St. Ann’s Community, 1550 Portland Ave., Rochester.
Bevier also will bring finished work. The art medium requires working on a flat surface, so attendees will gather around the work in progress.
Bevier, a graduate of Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, has worked for Enkaustikos, an artist paint manufacturing company in Rochester, since 2005. Of her responsibilities, research, development and education are integral parts of her position. She offers workshops at the Kathryn Bevier ArtWorks studio located at the Anderson Arts Building and travels throughout the U.S. and Canada to provide learning opportunities in various arenas, including the National Art Materials Trade Association, International Encaustic Artists, EncaustiCon, EncaustiCamp, Rochester Institute of Technology, College Art Association, the International Encaustic Conference, Savannah College of Art and Design and the New York State Art Teachers Association.
She has been published in Encaustic Revelation by Patricia Seggebruch, published by North Light Books 2014. Bevier is active in the local Rochester arts community through her involvement with many arts organizations, local colleges and public schools and her personal workshop offerings.
