The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester will continue its 40th anniversary celebration with “Bach to the Future” at 4 p.m. March 26 in Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 N. Plymouth Ave., Rochester.
The event, sponsored by the Abkowitz family, will feature baroque works by Johann Sebastian Bach and a wine tasting.
Artistic directors and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra musicians Juliana Athayde and Erik Behr will give a pre-concert talk at 3:30 p.m.
“This concert features the music of J.S. Bach, but with a twist,” Athayde and Behr said. “Musicians will perform Bach’s music as arranged by other great composers, such as Mozart and Rachmaninoff.”
The concert will feature Dmitry Stikovestky’s arrangement for Bach’s Goldberg Variations for String Trio and Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio by Claude Bolling.
Tickets cost $35 and are available online or at the door. Students can attend for free with a current school ID.
