Submissions for the 10th annual “6x6” exhibit and fundraiser are due April 17 at Rochester Contemporary Art Center, 137 East Ave., Rochester.
The exhibit will run June 3 through July 16. Each piece will cost $20.
The fundraiser provides 15 percent of RoCo’s annual operating budget. Artwork will be sold anonymously, so buyers won’t know who the artist is until the piece is sold. Previous participants include actor Robert Forster, author Andrea Barrett, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, TV and radio celebrities, film critic Jack Garner and religious leaders.
“‘6x6’ is a fun and very important fundraiser, but it also challenges a few art world conventions,” said Bleu Cease, RoCo executive director. “The anonymity of the artist until purchase allows the art to speak to the buyer rather than the buyer responding to an artist’s ‘name’ or reputation.”
Each entry must be signed on the back only. Works sent by mail must be postmarked April 16.
