WXXI recently updated its program releases for January.

Joshua Johnson’s “1A” airs from 10 a.m. to noon weekdays on AM 1370. The national radio program discusses the important issues of today.

“Building the Dream” will air at 9 p.m. Jan. 16 on WXXI-TV. The film offers insight into the challenges faced and overcome in the 27-year effort to create a national memorial to Martin Luther King Jr.

“Mercy Street” will air at 8 p.m. Sundays starting Jan. 22 on WXXI-TV. The Civil War-era drama is set in the occupied city of Alexandria, Virginia. Allegiances blur, loyalties shift and the drama intensifies as the scope of war pushes beyond Mansion House, the former hotel that was commandeered by northern troops to serve as a Union hospital.

“Backstage Pass” will air at 1 p.m. Jan. 21 on Classical 91.5. Julia Figueras will welcome Eastman School of Music professor Larry Zalkind and the Eastman Trombone Choir. Zalkind will talk about reshaping the Eastman Trombone Studio.
