Mark Winsberg will continue the free Tuesday Topics series with “The Opioid Crisis Deepens” from 12:12 to 12:52 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County, 115 South Ave., Rochester.
Winsberg, clinical director of chemical dependency services for Rochester Regional Health, will discuss abuse and addiction to opioids, such as heroin, morphine and prescription pain relievers and how it affects the health, social and economic welfare of the region.
The presentation will cover the complexity of opioid addiction as a brain disease and scientific insight needed to balance the negative and growing impact of opioid abuse on health and mortality with the fundamental role of prescription opioid pain relievers in healing and reducing human suffering.
Attendees can bring their lunch or purchase food from the library’s Starry Nites Cafe.
