Irondequoit and Webster Thomas hockey played to a 3-3 tie on Thursday night keeping the log jam atop the Division 3 Class B East standings. Irondequoit was crowned the winner after taking the shootout as it was part of the Webster Tournament, but the result will go as a tie for Section 5 purposes.

Both teams are now tied in points with division leader Canandaigua with 20 and each have five games remaining. The overtime contest was the fifth in the last six games for Thomas. They had a win and four ties in those five games and are now 8-3-4-0. Irondequoit is 8-4-3-1 on the season. Irondequoit wil have BK/Eastridge/Wayne on Saturday back in Webster followed by Webster Thomas and Webster Schroeder.

TOP STAR

Pete Barilla

Pete Barilla earns the top star of the game for Irondequoit. The senior forward scored twice in regulation, one of which was a penalty shot. He also started the shootout with a goal, his second penalty-shot style goal of the night. Barilla is Irondequoit's second leading scorer.

SECOND STAR

Mike Baitsholts

Mike Baitsholts was invlolved in almost all of the scoring for Webster. He assisted on the first goal, scored by Nic Epping two minutes into the second period, then scored Webster's second goal with 6:34 left in the second. Baitsholts also converted his try in the shootout but IHS won 3-2.

THIRD STAR

Chris Soufleris

Chris Soufleris, the Irondequoit goalie, earns the third star after posting 31 saves in the tie. Soufleris also started the shootout with a nice poke save on Tanner Woodruff. That allowed IHS to win the shootout with three makes which they achieved,
