The locally-based nonprofit organization Eight 4 Third World Hope will hold a fundraiser event Thursday at Mulconry's Irish Pub to support their latest school building project overseas.
The group was founded by a group of St. John Fisher College alumni dedicated to helping the less fortunate in Third World countries. Its first project raised funds to build a basic school in Concord, St. Ann, Jamaica.
Now, it's looking to add a new restroom/sanitation facility for a primary school in the same community. After that, the group hopes to build another basic school in McCooks Pen, Jamaica — a task that will cost $45,500.
The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mulconry's, 17 Liftbridge Lane, in Fairport. Hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and drawings for raffle prizes will be provided.
