New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald has announced that construction has begun on a $7.7-million contract to resurface five segments of state roads in Livingston and Ontario counties through Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's NY Works program.
The construction contractor for the project, Sealand Contractors Corp., of Rush, is beginning work this week on two sections of Route 21 in the town of Naples, Ontario County. The southern section of the project is between the Steuben County line and the south Naples village line, and the northern section is between the Naples village line and Griesha Hill Road.
The pavement at all locations will be resurfaced. Once work is complete, crews will install centerline rumble strips, located along the pavement markings dividing opposite-direction travel lanes.
Traffic at each work site will be controlled with lane closures and flaggers on week days during the daytime hours.
