Webster resident Michael Christiano is using his passion for antique cars to raise awareness and money for Crohn’s disease (CD), a chronic condition he has been living with for more than 25 years.
“Cruisin’ for Crohn’s,” is being held this Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Webster Fairport Elks Lodge in Webster. Proceeds will benefit the Rochester Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) chapter.
CD affects more than half a million Americans. Christiano lived with CD, a disorder that causes inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, for nearly 10 years before his official diagnosis. He has since worked with his doctor to get symptoms under control, but knows firsthand the challenges CD can pose on daily living, especially when juggling a full-time job and fatherhood.
Christiano shares his story in the latest issue of Crohn’sAdvocate magazine, available at www.crohnsandme.com.
