Students were evacuated from the Palmyra-Macedon Intermediate School shortly before lunchtime on Oct. 17 following a report of a fire in the building.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bob Ike said he was alerted of a small fire in a utility closet at the intermediate school about 11:25 a.m. Wednesday. The Macedon Fire Department was called in and the students were quickly evacuated. The fire was contained within the small closet area and no significant damage to the building was sustained.
No one was injured in the incident, Ike said. Since the school district had planned an early dismissal day across the district, Ike said students were dismissed and transported home as scheduled.
The fire is under investigation and Ike said the school district will work with investigators to determine a cause.
