Monroe County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo has said that she will seek County Legislature approval to enter into an agreement with the New York State Thruway Authority to sell E-ZPass On-the-Go tags.
The Thruway Authority allows for the sale of E-ZPass On-the-Go pre-paid tags at private and municipal locations as part of the E-ZPass program. Similar to other E-ZPass retail locations, when purchasing the tag in the County Clerk’s Office, the cost of the tag is $25 of which $4 stays in the county.
Once an E-ZPass tag is purchased, the person must register the tag with the Thruway Authority and will then have immediate access to the pre-loaded $25 for toll fees.
“Offering E-Z Passes complements the core business model of the County Clerk’s Office, which is to provide convenient services to the residents of Monroe County," County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo said.
"The program will also enhance the 'Renew Monroe!' program I established which encourages County residents to do business directly with the County Clerk’s Office to keep our money working here at home and taxes as low as possible.”
A number of private entities and several New York State County Clerk’s Offices have also entered into agreements with the Thruway Authority to sell E-ZPass tags.
