Police in Rochester are investigating a double shooting involving an off-duty police officer.

Rochester police say the officer shot and wounded two men during an altercation following an automobile crash.

The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. on the city’s east side.
The Democrat and Chronicle newspaper said police weren’t saying Friday night why the officer opened fire or whether the gunfire was justified.

They also didn’t release the names of the officer and two wounded men. All three were hospitalized.

Police say no one involved suffered life-threatening injuries.
