According to BankRate.com, the average cost for a non-interest checking account is $5.48 per month. The finance website says that is a record high and a 25-percent jump from last year.
The survey also found that overdraft fees are at an all-time high with an average cost of $31.26.
The survey says only two out of five non-interest checking accounts are free.
