A Penfield man has been arrested and charged with arson for starting a fire at home on Emerson Street.
Andrzei J. Gierczak, 61, of Penfield is charged with second-degree arson.
The Rochester Arson Task Force say Gierczak started a fire in a home on Emerson Street on August 29. When firefighters responded they found heavy smoke coming from the second floor.
No one was inside at the time and no one was injured. The house suffered extensive damage.
Investigators say Gierczak started the fire with an ignitable liquid.
Gierczak will be arraigned in City Court on Friday.
