The fourth annual Dog Day Afternoon, hosted by Sarah McKeon and a friend, both of whom lost dogs, is coming up from 3 to 6 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 19, at O'Loughlin's, 5980 St. Paul Blvd., Irondequoit.
“We wanted to throw an annual fundraiser and give the money to a local animal shelter,” McKeon explained. The first two years, the friends gave the proceeds to Scottsville Animal Hospital; last year and again this year, the beneficiary will be Joyful Rescues, a nonprofit animal rescue group (www.joyfulrescues.com).
“We raised $11,500 for Joyful Rescues last year,” McKeon said, “and our goal this year is $15,000.”
This year’s event will include live music, free food, raffle items and more.
Tickets are $10 in advance, and will be $15 at the door.
