The former Monroe County crime lab director is preparing to sue the county over her firing.
Janet Anderson Seaquist is accusing the county of libel, slander, defamation, and fraud, according to court paperwork.
Anderson-Seaquist was fired in June after allegations that she acted improperly by returning DNA evidence to law enforcement agencies when the cases became too old to prosecute. In some cases the evidence was then destroyed.
Anderson-Seaquist said she did not instruct agencies to destroy the evidence, and the agencies were told to return the evidence if it warranted testing.
She also claimed the lab made no determination on the statute of limitations of the cases.
Anderson-Seaquist said she was fired because District Attorney Sandra Doorley wanted her out of the position and County Executive Maggie Brooks rushed to judgment when she terminated Anderson-Seaquist.
County officials and the district attorney's office declined to comment. The county has 90 days to respond.
