A statement about cancer is causing controversy between Congresswoman Kathy Hochul and her challenger Chris Collins.
Collins made a statement to the media about healthcare and part of it said, "people now don't die from prostate cancer, breast cancer and some of the other things."
Congresswoman Hochul called the remark insensitive.
Collins, the former Erie County executive, says the comment was taken out of context and should have included the phrase "not as many people die."
He says his sister is a breast cancer survivor.
