The Eastridge Lancers Marching Band closed out the 2012 competition season with a third place finish at the New York State Field Band Competition this past Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
The Lancers' score of 88.05 was eight-tenths of a point behind second place finisher New Hartford in the Small School 1 Division.
Medina took the top spot out, with a score of 91.70, of eight bands competing in the division.
The 2012 season was the most successful in recent years for the Lancers, which performed a "Red," as in Little Red Riding Hood, themed show. Their campaign included their first win in a competition since 2005. They took first place at a competition in Cicero-North Syracuse.
This year was the band's best finish at the State Championships since 2003 when they also placed third. The band has had six state championships in the past.
