Angelo and Kim Collazo were honored Sunday, July 15 at the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation's National Conference in Washington, D.C.
The Irondequoit couple was recognized for their volunteer efforts to raise funds and awareness for the rare bone disorder Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease. Their infant daughter, Alle Shea, passed away from the disease in May 2009. She was just five weeks old.
The couple received the President's Award, given to adult volunteer(s) of the year.
Over the past three and a half years, the Collazos have raised more than $30,000 for the OI Foundation, to help with research and help people who have Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
