New York State Senate candidate Ted O’Brien talked with parents about the challenges facing the state's education system, including state funding, early intervention, and programs that serve children with Autism and other special needs, this morning outside the East Irondequoit Early Childhood Center, located in the Ivan Green Primary School building, 800 Brown Road.

O’Brien fielded questions related to education and offered solutions that he will fight for if elected to the New York State Senate.

He and Republican Sean Hanna are seeking to represent the 55th district, which includes most Monroe County towns except Greece and Brighton, in this fall's election. The 55th district is currently represented by Jim Alesi, R, Perinton, who is not seeking reelection.

O'Brien, an Irondequoit resident, is a current County Legislator representing Irondequoit. Hanna is a current state Assemblyman.

“As the school year begins, parents deserve to know what government can do to improve the quality of their children’s education,” O’Brien said. “I am committed to finding new ways to support our communities’ educators and help them care for special needs children.”
