About the musical Since they had many more women audition than men, the focus of this weekend’s Irondequoit Theatre Guild community theater show is women in musicals. “We show them in different scenarios,” artistic director Jad Jordan said, explaining that as people auditioned, he asked them their favorite Broadway show.

He has been working with a cast of 27, ages 6 to about 50, for the show, which will be presented in four performances this weekend.

“We had literally dozens of song possibilities, but we tried to put the show together so no one person is the lead star,” Jordan explained. “Each person has one solo and one ensemble number.”

About the artistic director Jordan is directing his first show for the Irondequoit Theatre Guild, but has appeared in the guild’s productions of “Full Monte” and “Gotta Dance” in the past.

He has also been involved with the Off-Monroe Players since 1996 and has directed a few shows for them.

A Rochester resident, he serves on the executive committee of the Theater Rocks, an association of 22 major theater groups in the area.

He works in the clinical diagnostics field and is starting a new job later this month.

Why you should attend “The cast is just amazing,” Jordan said. “The talent level is through the roof!”
