Irondequoit Rotarians Norb Rappl and Guy Kittlesen presented the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award to Irondequoit resident and I-Square developer Mike Nolan this past Saturday night, June 30, at the start of the club's annual Installation Dinner.
"Irondequoit Rotary believes that Mike Nolan's life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of The Rotary Foundation," said presenter Norb Rappl. "Mike Nolan, together with his wife, Wendy, is making the dream of a better Irondequoit a reality."
Nolan received three emblems of a Paul Harris Fellow: A certificate, a lapel pin and a medallion. A $1,000 contribution in his name has also gone to The Rotary Foundation.
The dinner also serves as a changing of the guard, so to speak, with the club's president for the past year passing the gavel to the president for the coming program year.
Mark Hiscock, 2011-12 president, will be succeeded by Stephanie Aldersley as president for 2012-13.
Hiscock said the club raised more than $20,000 through two different fundraisers the past year, and continued its charitable and service efforts locally and worldwide.
"This club is a well-oiled machine," Aldersley said. "Every person in the club makes an incredible contribution."
Rotary's motto for the coming year is "Peace through service."
Aldersley will be assisted by vice president and president-elect Robin Folts, an attorney; treasurer Tom Kosanke, secretary Greg Goater; sergeant-at-arms Bob Scheidt, and parliamentarian Joe Rinere. Directors will include Guy Kittlesen, Therese Bastuk, Louis DiPrima, Gary Hustis, Joyce Soporito and Kenn VanDiernan. Committee chairs will be Norb Rappl, Guy Kittlesen, Ray Holla, Bob Scheidt, Ray Shaheen, Lou DiPrima, B.J. Cunningham, Jim Kozlowski and Joyce Soporito.
