About 300 beautiful luminaries quietly graced the property at Sunset House, Irondequoit’s comfort care hospice home, for a unique fundraiser, “Love Always,” from 7 to 9 p.m. this past Friday, Feb. 10.

"What an event," said one of the organizers, Margaret Burns. "I have had the great opportunity to volunteer my time to help plan many events with many organizations ... This one is going in my personal record book as one of the most memorable."

The fund raiser was designed to honor or remember loved ones by the lighting of a luminary on the grounds of Sunset House, 3746 St. Paul Blvd.

Organizers had hoped for 100 luminaries, and were thrilled and delighted to receive 300 orders. One hundred percent of the evening’s proceeds will support Sunset House’s ability to provide care
for residents in the final stages of an incurable illness.

Anyone who purchased a luminary was invited to attend the event at any time during the evening, or simply know that a candle was burning in remembrance or acknowledgment of someone they loved.
