The Greater Rochester Soap Box Derby is hosting indoor rally races in the former Chase-Pitkin building on Hudson Avenue in Irondequoit from about 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26 and next weekend, March 3 and 4.
The derby’s Executive Director, Mark Scuderi, points out that the races are the first times a Soap Box event will “officially” be held in the town of Irondequoit, since the Lake Shore Boulevard “derby hill” where the annual outdoor race is held every June is technically in the city of Rochester.
Scuderi, of Irondequoit, also noted that the Rochester derby program innovated indoor rally races in 2001 at the Dome Arena.
Wegmans is a sponsor of the events, and spectators are welcome all four days.
